Academic Programmes Expansion
An important landmark in the development of the Polytechnic was the initial accreditation of all programmes in 1985 and commencement of Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes in Business Administration and Management. Accountancy, Secretarial Studies as well as Town and Regional Planning also commenced HND programmes in the Year 1986. Subsequently, new programmes and departments were introduced and accredited for the National Diploma and Higher National Diploma respectively. In addition to the regular programmes, the Polytechnic has successfully introduced Part-time Diploma and Higher National Diploma as well as Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) programmes.

At present, there are six (6) Schools and 28 departments. In addition, processes for the commencement of new Diploma programmes in Mechatronics Technology, Foundry and Rail-tract Technology, as well as Higher National Diploma in Chemical Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology (Instrumentation option), and Degree programmes are now in progress.

Since the establishment of Federal Poly Nasarawa in 1983, the Institution has produced worthy and outstanding graduates with remarkable success in diverse fields of endeavours in the society. The alumni unit, which was established by the management of the institution in recognition of the great essence and importance of the proper coordination of the alumni activities, with a view to promote the ideals and foster unity of purpose among alumni members, towards the advancement of the good cause of the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa.
The alumni unit serves as the coordinate point for interaction and also a substantive link between the teeming population of the graduates of this institution and the management – ably led by Professor Shettima Saidu AbdulKadir (the amiable Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa). The alumni unit recently received a boost of morale through the reorganization of the unit by the Rector, to ensure standard and effective service delivery with a view to create necessary avenues for a robust and productive relationship between the institution and the alumni.

It is common knowledge that successful alumnus and alumna have the interest of their alma maters at hearts and intend to contribute to the growth and development of the alma mater. It is on this note that the alumni unit is well determined to facilitate means of reaching out appropriately to the generality of the Alumni of Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa to contribute meaningfully to the ongoing giant developmental strides being witnessed under the leadership of the Rector of the Polytechnic.

One of the core responsibilities of the alumni unit is to represent the interest of the Polytechnic in all alumni related matters, both internally and externally. The unit is headed by a high ranking staff of the institution referred as the alumni Officer, who is assigned with the onerous task of supervising the coordination of the general duties of the alumni unit, including but not limited to the supervision of the alumni association cum members registration at the point of graduation and proper supervision of the activities of the alumni association.
The alumni unit is located at the alumni building within the polytechnic premises. The alumni unit is presently undergoing the reactivation of Organs of The Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa Alumni Association across the federation to enhance the actualization of both the vision and mission of the alumni association and fulfill the true essence of the establishment of the alumni unit.
